PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Dingbat Theatre Project is seeking non-equity artists for principal, ensemble, and understudy roles in the upcoming productions of Pippin and Speakeasy Alice. Dingbat Theatre Project is a semi-professional theatre collective dedicated to presenting economically and socially accessible forms of theatrical storytelling to the community of Sarasota County and surrounding areas. Dingbat’s acting company is made up of local artists committed to collaborating and growing together as an acting ensemble through the presentation of re-imagined works of musical theatre and the development of new theatrical work to engage and uplift our community.
***ALL PERFORMERS WILL BE GIVEN A GAS STIPEND AS COMPENSATION FOR THEIR PARTICIPATION IN OUR SHOWS***

This event will serve as auditions for both Speakeasy Alice and Pippin.

Those auditioning should prepare a 32-bar cut in pop or contemporary musical theatre style. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring a printed copy of your resume and headshot to the audition. Speakeasy Alice is a variety show that will be built around the performers. If you have a special skill like playing an instrument, spoken word poetry, gymnastics, etc., be prepared to show that to us as part of your audition.
Those interested in auditioning should email [email protected] with “(LAST NAME) (FIRST NAME) Audition Request” in the subject line. You will receive an email within 48 hours confirming the time of your audition appointment. You can include your headshot, resume, and other relevant materials in the body of the email.

Performers must be available for rehearsals 7:00-10:30 April 13-15, 21-25, All day tech April 26, and dress rehearsals the evenings of April 28-30. Sporadic rehearsals will be held in late March and early April based on the performers schedule. Most likely on Friday and Sunday evenings.
Performances: Friday-Saturday (7:30pm), Sunday (2:00pm)

ROLES AVAILABLE
We are looking to cast up to 10 diverse performers including four featured dancers, two burlesque artists, two drag artists, and two comedy act performers. All performers should be comfortable in appearing in states of undress and four performers will be utilized as featured vocalists throughout the show.
The show will consist of four solo burlesque acts, three group dance pieces, one solo dance piece, and a variety of featured vocalists and comedy acts throughout the evening of entertainment.

The ultimate 'ring leader.' Masterfully charming and manipulative, the Leading Player is a chameleon of sorts. Guides Pippin through his own story and tries to intervene at the end. excellent dancer. Obsessed with putting on a great show for the audience. Must be 18+
PIPPIN
Our story's young and confused protagonist. He is longing to find his purpose in life. Naive, innocent, and discontent. Eventually finds love, and meaning in life, with Catherine and Theo. Must be 18+
CHARLES
Pippin's demanding father. As the King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. He wears his years with great pride. Must be 18+
FASTRADA
Pippin's conniving stepmother. A seductress, who is no stranger to deceit and betrayal, she is both sexy and smart. Skilled at using her sexual appeal to benefit her and her son. Roller-skating a plus. Must be 18+
BERTHE
Pippin's saucy grandmother. A brassy broad full of wisdom, grace, and sass. She tries to help Pippin and encourages him to live his life to the fullest. Must be 18+
CATHERINE
A widow and mother. She is a beautiful and a hopeless romantic, who possesses graceful elegance. Encounters Pippin at his lowest point and eventually falls in love with him. Must be 18+
LEWIS
Pippin’s spoiled and self-obsessed half-brother. Must be 18+
THEO
Catherine’s young son. Age 8-14.
ENSEMBLE
